As we’re finally about to get to the tarot portion of my birthday reading, Casey threw out something she was 100% certain of.
“Have you done the DNA thing? Because I just heard you're thinking about doing the 23andMe.”
My father was adopted as an infant, so I was curious about potential relatives, health concerns, etc. I did 23andMe in early 2019.
“Did you find out what your nationality is?”
My nationality is American, but I’m pretty sure Casey meant to ask my ethnicity. I’m from everywhere— That map 23andMe offers you is fascinating!
“Is your mother Italian?”
My mother is Mexican American. I explained my father was British/Irish and my mother’s family is from Mexico. We have a lot of Indigenous ties as well. I said that the closest thing to Italian is that some of my DNA is traced to Southern Europe (i.e. Spain).
Casey was not convinced.
“I'm telling you… Spirit told me you were Italian. That's why I said that and I think if you were to be given those two cultures (Mexican and Italian) and asked which one would you resonate with, it would be more the Italian.”
Here’s where I almost just ended the chat. I was still very sick and I didn’t like having “Spirit” argue why I’m actually Italian.
But, shocking even myself, I stayed.
The final part— tarot reading— is next!
